Memorial to Tanya Burr, killed 15 September 2002

Contiki European Encounter trip - 8-10 September 2002

Day 15 & afterwards - 8-10 September 2002: Paris & London

Tanya beside a memorial that doubles as a memorial to Princess Diana, as it is above the underpass where she was killed.

The underpass where Princess Diana was killed.

This purchased photo is the second to last photo to be taken of Tanya before her death.

She was not keeping her diary up to date by this point and did not make any mention of having visited the London Dungeon, in Tooley Street, London, when she was keeping the diary during her previous time in London.

I have no recollection of her telling me when she was there when she showed me her three purchased photos (Contiki, Madame Tussauds and this one). A receipt indicates that she did, however, travel on the London Underground on 10 September, and she had an entire day to fill before needing to check in at Heathrow at about 7:30pm. She also bought a book about the dungeon's history.

The feature that indicates that the photo was taken at the end of the trip is her mauve handbag at her feet. This handbag, also shown in the top photo on this page, was bought during her Contiki trip. Six days later it was found alongside her body containing all the negatives from her trip. Probably it had also contained her wallet, which was stolen and later recovered.

What she didn't ever know was that her great great great grandfather's architect business was located in Tooley Street in the early to mid-1800s.
