Memorial To Tanya Burr, killed 15 September 2002
Peer Review: I like Tanya because........
During 2000, Tanya participated in a course with M.M.S. Training Ltd., on 'Motivation, Marketing & Sales'. As part of the course, an anonymous peer review was conducted (by passing a page for each student around among the classmates) and Tanya's survives in her folder. Judging by the comments of others associated with the course since Tanya's death, she had been a popular participant.
My only memory of the course, however, was walking down the stairs in the same building from a course I was taking, without having any thought as to where she had been taking her course. As I approached one of the landings I saw a very attractive, well-dressed blonde girl coming the other way. As we came face to face I thought to myself that there was something familiar about her. Suddenly she got over her surprise and exclaimed loudly "Mum!" When I got over my shock at not recognising my own daughter, we both burst into laughter. I was used to the 'around-home' Tanya, not the dressed-up version.
I like Tanya because....
She's an original, spontaneous.
She is who she is.
'Cause she is strange (in a good way).
I can push my chair further than her.
You are definitely a good time kinda girl. Don't lose your fortune on the pokies.
um...um...um... can't really think. Just jokin' Tanya. You're a great gal really.
She's a hardcase ... funny ... Nice.
Tanya is a rather vivacious young woman with headstrong determination and a strong sense of independence. She has given me a lot of laughs on this course. A really fun chic!
When she thought Lesibeans [sic] were aliens :-) (does have a funny personality in her characteristics somewhere).
She wears kewl clothes and she speaks her mind.
She is a spontaneous and unpredictable chick.
She enjoys a laugh and is a competitive person.
Of her sense of dress, ability to retain a sense of herself. I like Tanya because she is a spark.
I like her because she is childish - in a good way. And no you can't marry me and have all my money.
The course included filling out a Personality Profile where Tanya had to outline her view of herself. These were the entries she ticked, and most have a strong ring of familiarity, although not necessarily an overwhelming one in every case:
Strengths: Planner, Daring, Idealistic, Contented, Perfectionist, Adaptable, Spontaneous, Faithful, Tenacious, Loyal, Bold, Persuasive, Competitive, Reserved, Self-reliant, Outspoken, Dry humour, Mover, Strong-willed, Confident.
Weaknesses: Fussy, Impatient, Headstrong, Plain, Angered easily, Worrier, Tactless, Disorganised, Stubborn, Lord over others, Restless, Resistant, Intolerant, Short-tempered, Bossy, Unforgiving, Unaffectionate, Nonchalant, Manipulative, Changeable.
