Koen and Inge went to Tanzania for 2.5 weeks in Sept/Oct 2003. Our holiday started with a 5-day safari together with Borge and Synne from Norway.
Jasmine and Gie from Belgium and Noel and Oleana from France joined us in a second jeep. The safari was organised by JMT African Heart.
The first 2 National Parks we went to were Lake Manyara and Serengeti.
Lake Manyara is a small, but beautiful park, with a lake that attracts many pelicans. A lot of elephants can be seen as well.
This park is said to be famous for it's tree-climbing lions, however, most people think it's a fairy-tale.
We were very, very lucky, as we saw really one of these Tree-climbing lions!!
The road to Serengeti leads via the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater. We visited this park on the way back.
Serengeti is very famous because of the vast plains, but it has surprisingly many variations in landscape.
We slept on a campsite in the middle of the Serengeti, with baboons trying to steal food and nice wilderness-sounds at nigth!
Due to the dry time, there were not so many herds of zebra's and wildebeasts.
Instead, we had many lion(ess)-sightings (even in action, but they didn't catch anything...).
