crassus
What's a nig gonna do but go home on this fine Friday? Sadly
I still have two hours to go, and it loks like it's going
to be a LOOOOOOOONG two hours.

downtime
It's not a party unless you've filled a shopping cart
with beer cans. Not that parties from college weren't
equally consumptuous (and fun). Drinking with people you
don't know is kinda interesting, there is this
awkwardness constantly fighting with the socially
stimulating effects of alcohol. Needless to say, the
forty something dollars of beer I bought came in handy.
I realized from this experience that there are
essentially two types of beer drinkers; social and
fraternal. The social drinker is relaxed and
drinks mostly bottled beer. They value the group and
interaction therein. While they can be a little haughty or
holier-than-thou in their mindset, they are for
the most part enjoyable. The fraternal drinker is
usually self absorbed, not only in drinking habits but
also in group behavior. Less concerned with the quality
of the drinking experience for everyone else, the fraternal
drinker will bring less flavored beer and will consume it
with the intent of rendering himself / herself less
enjoyable to the rest of the group. To some extent this
can be okay, and I would even venture to say that fraternal
drinkers work well with each other, because they share the
same goals. Typically, socials and fraternals don't mix due
to differing interests. Ironically, people frequently
switch drinking styles. I have seen the social and fraternal
drinking in myself, as well as others.
Bought a camera yesterday, as well as a firewire cable. What
a rip! The cable, a 6' firewire800 cable was 30 bux.

experience
At some point I plan on making a photo map of my apartment.
For the most part, it's a pretty decent place, but then
again, I say this living in the master bedroom (the bedrooms
are not identical as you would think). We found out today
that there is no cleaning service for the Bridgestreet,
so I'm going to have to start taking care of my linens
and carpet, etc. I guess I'll be cleaning my apartment this
weekend then, because I had been waiting for the cleaning
staff to come in and do it for me. ^_^

one week in
A week into the program and I think things are getting interesting. Today we just started talking
about the fun stuff, addressing and PLC operation, etc. (programmable logic controller) I think I
understand why people who work enjoy watching TV. Thinking for 8 hours is hard. You get home and
then you just want to zonk out. Sit and do something completely mindless. I find it hard to commit
to my more technical hobbies. I still won't give into TV though.
And Lisa, I miss you.
