What is the difference between the resultant force of two forces, and their balance force?  Sketch a diagram to demonstrate.  How do we estimate the uncertainties in this experiment?

Answer.

The resultant force and balance force have the same magnitude, but they are in opposite directions. 

We  move the balancing force to a small angle Dq that  the balance is just upset., and we add a small weight DW to the balance that the balance is just upset. These are the two uncertainties.
