QUIZ 4

What kinds of error are in the experiment of "Free Fall"?  How can we improve the procedure to get more accurate result of finding g?

The main errors of this experiment are systematical, such as the measurements of height D, and time t, which depend on the precisions of the instruments. The harmony between the partner also contributes to the systematical error. The discrepancies of the measurements are random errors.

We only take six measurements, and all measurements are taken within a short distance, 0.75 - 2.00m. If we can increase the height, which will take longer time for the ball to fall, the relative errors of height and time will reduced. We also take more measurements to reduce the random errors. As a result we get more points to plot the graph. The the slope of the best fit line will be close to true 1/2g.
