Voldemort is the quintessential, power-seeking dark lord. He possesses similarities with other popular dark lords, in his motives, ambitions, and appearance.
This page aims to analyze the dark lord, Voldemort, the main antagonist in the Harry Potter series. It does not seek to promote the character above other characters in the books. I just thought it would be interesting to do a study that focuses on one character, and I choose Voldemort because of his significant role in the main conflict of the novel.
This analysis is based on the five Harry Potter books, an undergraduate thesis that I conducted entitled A Comparative Content Analysis of Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings (which covers books 1 to 4 only) and other electronic research materials that I have obtained, coupled with my own personal analysis and opinion. I will soon include a page on the references that I have used for this.
Finally, if anyone would like to contribute an essay, or even a constructive criticism of the contents here, please go to the discussion area (please see link below). I admit that I have been partly relying on what I remember from having read the books (at this point, I don’t even know exactly how many times I’ve read them). I especially need my copy of the fifth back, which has been forever in the custody of my nephew, so I'm trying my best to remember what I've read there, thus there is potential for some error in my facts herein. If you spot any, please feel free to point out the errors by mailing me!
