Pet Overpopulation... It's Everyone's Problem
Every day hundreds of sad and lonely cats and dogs wait behind bars in Regina's Humane Society. Some meow or bark loudly, while others just sit quietly, hoping someone will take them home.
For many, that day will never come. Instead their lives will end at the hands of caring humane society workers faced with no other option.
In Regina, more than 50% of the cats brought into the Humane Society are euthanized. Dogs fare much better, with approximately 20% euthanized. These percentages translate to thousands of healthy, trusting companion animals put to death nearly every year.
Pet owners who allow their pets to BREED AT RANDOM contribute to this senseless killing. Irresponsible pet ownership KILLS tens of thousands of pets in Canada EACH year. If YOU don't spay or neuter your dog or cat - YOU are adding to the problem of pet overpopulation. Spaying and neutering not only reduces the number of unwanted animals, it helps your pet live a longer, healthier life. It is a compassionate decision. And, as a pet owner, the only one you can make. Please. Spay or neuter your pet.
