DAVID KEEBLE

England

"My work is both informed and influenced by my own close encounters with death and loss. I am concerned with that part of memory that disappears when we die. My intention is to reflect both our individuality and our commonality; to contemplate both our uniqueness and our ordinariness; to engage with this fragile element of human existence and to invite the viewer on a journey of remembering, of recalling, of reconsidering and ultimately to consider our shared destiny."

After a spell in the Merchant Navy, David Keeble worked as a Quantity Surveyor/Estimator in the Construction Industry and then retrained as a Social Worker. Following a life threatening illness in 1995 he was prompted to make the opportunity to follow a path he had been contemplating, namely that of studying fine art whilst continuing to work part time. His work clearly signals his life, and near death, experiences. Working mostly in installation and video Keeble also makes very powerful performances. He normally works in England but has also shown and performed in Poland.
