The Furies were the
daughters of Uranus, who sprang up from his blood, after
Cronus betrayed Uranus - his father. They are the
exacters of retribution in Greek Mythology - they punish
crimes beyond the reach of human justice. More especially
toward those who commit perjury (lying under oath) or
parricide (the slaying of one's parents). The Greeks
feared to speak the Furies' names aloud (Megaera,
Tisiphone, and Alecto), so they used other names to
describe these three bat-winged women - "The Kindly
Ones", "The Eumenides (literally The Kindly
Ones)", "The Erinyes". Here you will find a poster for the upcoming screenplay short, "The Furies". I envision Alyssa Milano in the heroine role in both "The Kindly Ones" and "The Furies". Click to view larger image of Alyssa Read The Kindly Ones |
