Amazon High - Xena before the "Warrior Princess"

Several years ago I saw this picture in the official Xena Magazine, talking about a new spin-off project entitled "Amazon High". I thought that it was about Xena in her younger years, much like "Young Hercules". Turns out that it was about an American High School student (played here by Selma Blair). Go figure. The idea was later changed into Cleopatra 2525.

When I saw this picture, ideas immediately ran through my head for a young Xena series. I wrote up a pilot episode, and an outline for the entire first season.

Xena is a 17-year old beauty who leaves her hometown of Amphipolis to find her place in the world. In Athens, she participates in tryouts for the most exclusive warrior training academy in all of Greece - Amazon High.

Xena and her newfound friends - Larissa and Megaera - travel to Amazon High to begin their training. They immediately clash with Morine, a princess of high birth who fancies herself the next "Queen of the Amazons."

Morine takes Xena on a Stymphalian bird hunt, which doesn't turn out at all like she had planned.

Everything points to Xena becoming someone great, destined to change history forever ...
