Biography of Tarl N. Telford

or: "The day he was born, a bluebird sang ..."

Once upon a time, in a fairly medium-sized city, a humble baby boy was born. Luckily, he managed to grow out of the humble part (ego was his livelihood as a writer, was it not?).

Tarl grew for his first fifteen years in the Pacific Northwest. There, in the constant rain, he developed a love of books and knowledge (and a disdain for the ickyness of slugs, eeew.) He wrote many short stories growing up, and planned on becoming a novelist.

Funny how fate tends to stick its fingers in the bubbling pot of plan chowder, isn't it? Life didn't unfold as nicely as a restaurant napkin for our intrepid hero. Along with his family, he moved to New Mexico at the age of 15.

Tarl continued to write and dream, eventually discovering that movies actually had someone write them. It was quite a revelation, and one that will affect everyone eventually. While in New Mexico, he wrote close to ten screenplays.

At the age of 23, Tarl moved up to Provo, Utah, where he continued to write, composing four Star Wars stories, and several pilot episodes for original television shows.

In Utah, he met the wonderful girl who's now his wife. They got married in St. Paul, Minnesota (she was from back there; it wasn't just an arbitrary decision). While back in the midwest, computerless and nearly penniless, writing was on hold during the cold, hard winter.

But summer brought with it a move to freedom, and a warmer climate. Tarl and his wife moved fto Western Colorado, and from there to Southeast Minnesota. He continues to write and plan for the future of television, movies, and comic books. (He also dreams of the day when he will go to Toys 'R Us and see action figures based on a story he wrote.)

The Rest of the Story ...

Okay, here's the real scoop. Tarl was a brilliant child, earning a wonderful living as a garden gnome. It was there in the gardent that he came to appreciate the wondrous power of imagination. Those days would forever influence his writing. As for this friend in the picture (on the right), chances are, he's still in the garden.
The truth is that it's a brain - enhancing thinking cap. Still, underpants are funny no matter what age you are.

Adorable. Brilliant.Snappy dresser.

Ralph Lauren, eat your heart out.

As a child, I realized the power of play.

I still like to play with toys.

November 2000. Cute, huh?

Watch for these faces elsewhere on the site. They figure prominently in several stories.
