Seto looked out the double-paned glass of his bedroom window and frowned. It was Wednesday night, and he feared he had made a grave, and irreversible mistake. The brown-haired CEO had gone home Tuesday evening full of conflicting emotions. He knew, at that time, that he felt _something_ for the lanky blond nuisance; he just wasn't sure what that something was. So, he did what he always did when pressed into an awkward situation, one where his emotions could muddle things and make them unclear-- he ignored them, and by ignoring his feelings, he in turn ignored Jou, shutting him out completely. Seto knew, of all the things he could have done at that moment in time, that one was the worst. And Jou had let him know. Seto hadn't been able to say a single word to the blond the whole day at school. Katsuya, a moderately popular student at Domino High, made sure he was always surrounded by people whenever the millionaire was even ten feet away from him. Any time Seto glanced in his direction, Jounouchi appeared to look right through the brunet, as if he didn't even exist. He would pointedly walk the other way whenever Kaiba tried to approach him, but Seto was undeterred; he figured he'd have his chance during practice that afternoon. Wrong. When Kaiba arrived, Jou was already out on the field, with Honda keeping him company. The two kept up a stream of endless chatter, ignoring Seto and giving him no opportunity to explain himself to the blond. And oh, but he wanted to explain; Seto wanted to take Jou in his arms and tell him just why he acted the way he did, and what that kiss really meant to him. He knew just how much it meant to him, now. Seto leaned against the cool glass, watching the city lights as they twinkled in the night sky. He let his mind wander back to the kiss, pressing a finger to the lips that had tasted such rare joy and then allowed him to walk away from it. His lips were betrayers; who better than them knew how much the puppy was beginning to mean to him? Slow, soft, deep, absolutely fucking stunning. That's what that lip lock was to Seto. He'd never before felt so completely certain about one thing, and he let it go because he was afraid it would turn out to all be a lie. 'Finally too jaded for your own good,' Seto scolded himself, his mouth forming a bitter line. He walked over to his bed and lay across it dejectedly, splayed out. His silk pajamas felt almost wrong on him, and he knew why. Slipping one hand under his pillow, Seto pulled at the threadbare material underneath. He pressed the blue shirt, so worn it was almost satiny, to his face, breathing in his own scent, mixed with Katsuya's. There was something so perfect about the two scents blending, and Kaiba imagined for a minute what his bed sheets would smell like, if Jou and him ever slept on them together. The thought made his head swirl and his pants tent. Laying the baby blue shirt carefully across his chest, Seto slipped a hand into his baggy pajama bottoms, grasping his growing erection lightly. He tugged on the velvet flesh a couple times, coaxing it to its full, hard length. He stroked himself slowly, lazily, as thoughts of Jou filled his hazy brain. First, he thought of Jounouchi's body. How carnally his own had reacted the first time he had seen Jou naked. The boy had to have been created by Ra himself, his body was a golden symphony of sunlight. Seto contemplated the fall of Jou's hair across his honeyed eyes, the way he turned just so when he talked, to emphasize whatever half-assed point he was trying to make. How when Katsuya looked at Seto, it felt like the sun hadn't set on his world after all; it had just been stolen and put inside those soulful chocolate orbs. Then Seto thought about the kiss. His breath quickened, along with his strokes, heightening his passion. The kiss to end all kisses; to end the world as he knew it. Seto had felt himself falling when his lips touched Katsuya's; he was captured, not by a diabolical card game mastermind, but by a trusting boy with pretty eyes and a big heart. He never thought he'd see the day. Kaiba came, crying out softly, only one name on his lips. He didn't care how he had fucked up, he needed Katsuya in his life. Cleaning himself up, Seto vowed to make Jou understand. -- Murmuring a distracted hello to Anzu and Honda, Jou sank into his seat as the bell rung, desperately glad that Seto Kaiba was Not. In. This. Class! Shutting his eyes for a short moment, Jou breathed out a sigh of relief as he thought through the day. At least today Kaiba had gotten the hint and left him alone. In fact, the rich boy seemed to be virtually nonexistent, a fact that both relieved and depressed the blond. To say that Jou was confused would be putting it lightly. '"Really fucking baffled" would be the choice of words I'd choose,' he thought dourly. The past couple of days had been a maelstrom of unfamiliar and unwanted emotions. Kaiba, poster-boy-of-the-moment Seto Kaiba, had gotten under Jou's skin like no other, and with only one kiss. Jounouchi had been kissed many a time, starting with Yuki Kobayashi when he was only in teigakunen*, but nothing had ever felt so good, so _right_ before. Katsuya frowned in thought as he leaned forward absently, chin in his palm. He wished he understood Kaiba, himself, the kiss, the after-effects, hell, the whole damn _world_ a little bit better. Lost in contemplation, Jou didn't notice his friend when he entered the classroom. "Hey Jou!" panted out a breathless Yugi as he hurried over to Jounouchi's desk. "I just came from the front office-- someone left this for you." With that, the petite semi-blond plunked down a long, white box. "What in the world were you doing in the front office, Yug? What, did Bakura's spirit challenge you to a Shadow Duel again?" Jou asked, pulling the box closer to him. Yugi grinned. "I work there now, during my free periods. Come on, open the box! I want to see what's inside!" Glancing up at Yugi curiously, Jou opened the box, and gaped. Inside were two thorny, long-stemmed roses. One was a stark, creamy white, delicate in appearance. Across it lay a fleshy bloom colored the deepest, darkest crimson the blond had ever seen; its petals were a breathtaking contrast to the innocent white of the other flower. Katsuya was floored. "Wow, those are really beautiful, Jounouchi! Who sent them?" Yugi motioned with his hands, indicating a card nestled between the stems. Jou picked it up, nose filled with the heady scent of the pair of roses, and read: 'Purity and passion. The two things you represent, The two things I cherish above all else. I am not sorry.' It was unsigned. "Pretty cryptic, if you ask me," commented the short teen, reading over Jounouchi's shoulder. The blond was speechless, but he knew whom the gift was from. Even more, he knew what the mystery person was trying to say; well, at least he had a pretty good idea. Katsuya made small talk with Yugi until the instructor cleared his throat and begun lecturing, then waved as his duelist friend left the classroom. Jou turned back to the card and re-read the message, then pressed it to his chest, to his heart. Maybe things weren't so bad after all. ---- TBC. *teigakunen, the word decribing Japanese elementary school age cohorts, usually including grades 1-3. |
