That night, Chasey gave up his small bedroom to the newfound lovers. He and Sebastian were more than happy to pull out the sofa bed in the living room, piling onto it with Will and Pan like a bunch of puppies. Unsurprisingly, the lanky raven-haired teen was accepted into the group without a word, just Chasey slinging an arm around his shoulders and steering him toward the middle of the bed.

Drayne, exhausted, fell asleep almost immediately, his thin arms wrapped around Gade's middle. The brunet was content to just hold him, watching him sleep and occasionally kissing his temple whenever it looked like the dream Drayne was having turned sour. He'd smooth back Drayne's bangs, the skin of his forehead soft and cool against Gade's lips. Instantly the contact would soothe Drayne, and whatever he was dreaming about would right itself.

Gade had intended to stay awake the entire night, holding Drayne and watching him sleep. He was surprised to wake to the sound of Chasey's voice a few hours later, the dawn a pale grey backdrop to the world.

"Gade, Drayne, wake up," Chasey was softly insistent.

"M'up," Gade mumbled, blinking one eye open. He gently shook the dead weight in his arms. "D, wake up, buddy."

"MmmEdmerSkizzerhans*... g'way," Drayne mumbled, burying his face in Gade's stomach.

Gade shook Drayne some more, cupping his face. "Come on, love, wakey wakey. Chasey needs us."

"Mmm... Gade?" Drayne slowly blinked open his eyes. He looked up at Gade and smiled, softly, genuinely. "Hi."

"Hi." Gade bent his head and kissed Drayne, lightly. He found he just had to.

A cough interrupted them, and they both turned their heads toward the noise. Chasey looked apologetic, but plowed on regardless. "Drayne, your mother called the house a few minutes ago."

"Oh." Drayne sat up, wide-awake now. "What'd she say?"

"Well, she talked to Mom for a good while. I didn't really hear the conversation, but..." He bit his lip.

Drayne's eyes flooded, but he refused to cry; Gade's hold on him tightened responsively. He knew what was coming, was even prepared for it, but it still hurt. "They don't want me back, do they?"

Chasey shook his head sadly. He sat down on the tiny bed and laid a hand on his leg. He sighed. "Mom says they stayed up all night arguing, but in the end they felt it was best if you remained away from home, at least for now." He brightened up a bit. "Mom says she has absolutely no problem with you staying here, though. We even have an old cot we can put up in here. It'd be like old times when you guys'd come on sleepovers."

Drayne smiled, bittersweet. "That'd be awesome, Chasey, it really would. Tell your mom I think she's the raddest person alive."

Gade remained silent throughout everything, his chin on Drayne's head. When Chasey left, he murmured gently, "You could maybe stay with me, y'know."

Drayne looked up at Gade. "Yeah, but what would you tell your parents I got kicked out for? I know your mom would be accepting, but..."

Gade sighed. "I'd have to tell them eventually, anyway. I..." he trailed off, frowning.

Drayne moved so he could see Gade's face clearer. "Gade?"

Gade shook his head. "Maybe it is best you stay here for a while; maybe I can convince my parents otherwise. Who knows, but for right now let's not think about it."

He hugged Drayne to him, and they both settled back on the bed, idly looking out on the pale morning. Fog hovered close to the ground, softening the edges of everything and making the outside appear surreal. Mist clung to the window, crystalising the muted colors, the view picturesque. Drayne decided he rather liked the way the world looked, soft and grey and beautiful. And that's when it happened.

"I love you," Gade whispered into his ear, loud enough for only Drayne to hear. "I think I always have."

The tears that had been threatening to fall spilled out of Drayne's eyes as twin waterfalls down the sides of his face. A hand cupped his cheek, drawing his face up and he was kissed, soft yet sure, slow yet deep.

"I love you," Gade repeated.

"I love you," Drayne whispered back, then kissed him again, clinging to Gade's arms like they were his only salvation.

It was sweet. It was perfect.

It was colorless.
