A major feather in the cap of Trivandrum Amateur Radio Society, with respect to establishing Radio Communication facility, was the wireless communication facility extended to the organisers of National Games which was held in Kerala in 1986.

The TARS team was responsible for planning, establishing and co-ordinating a wireless communication network covering computer centers and media center located in the towns of Trivandrum, Cochin, Trichur, Calicut, Quilon and Cannanore, using HF and VHF Amateur Bands.

The team included Austin, VU2TF(Silent Key), Krishnan Kutty, VU2PKK, Girish, VU2KGB, Maya, VU2CIA, Jojith, VU2JAW, Sanal, VU2TNA and Hari, VU2HRI.

The wireless communication node for the main computer center (Keltron, Trivandrum) was controlled by Girish, VU2KGB. The backup HF link was under Krishnan Kutty's control, VU2PKK. The Trivandrum based media centre node was controlled by a team under the lead of Jojith, VU2JAW.

The timely dissemination of games data was attributed to the efficient wireless network established by the TARS team and this activity is rated by TARS as one of the most complex wireless networks ever established in the history of TARS.
