Tears on a Rose

Kneeling in the moonlight
damp fresh turned earth
scent of lilacs and roses
whisper on cool night air

Fragile as the rose before me
bloodred in the moonlight
prickly as her thorns
surrounded by perfumed slumber

Tears born by confusion
sliding gently through well worn streaks
gliding on silken petals
before pooling in a soft scented bower.
