The installation of the ILS has finally started. When everything goes well, the system should be fully operational at the beginning of july. Lublinek Airport is waiting for many years for this system. Untill now, aircraft had to make an visual, NDB or VOR/DME approach. But when the weather was bad (low visibility or low cloudbase) aircraft could not land at Lublinek. That's why EuroLOT had suspended his regular flights for the winter. The ILS has costed 3 mln. PLN.

The chance that EuroLOT will operate a scheduled flight this summerseason is very small. The first scheduled flight of this season is now planned for Tuesday 3 September. The flights will only operate if there are enough passengers.

The ILS has been installed and the first calibrationflights have started today. A Let410 made a few ILS-approaches. This testing will take about four days. At the end of august the ILS should be fully operational.

There will only be one more flight this summerschedule, on 11 september. All other flights are cancelled because there are not enough passengers. According to the winterschedule, there will be one flight a day in the afternoon. With a schedule like that it's very difficult to find a good connection at Warsaw. LOT want's to fly to Lódz with smaller aircraft, because most seats are empty on the ATR42.
There are rumours that Silesian Air, a new Polish regional airline, want's to fly to Lódz using Beech 1900D aircraft.
The ILS will be operational on 31 oktober.

The winderschedule to Lódz has changed. This winter the ATR42 will make a nightstop at Lublinek and will fly six times a week. The planes will fly, eventhough there are only a few passengers. That's because people have to be convinced that there is a connection by air to Warsaw. Almost all seats on the flights to Warsaw are empty. A reason why there are no passengers for these flights is because people know that most flights are cancelled. When the ILS will be operational, aircraft can land at Lublinek at all time.

22/9/2002
The ILS is finally fully operational. Since 21 october aircraft can land at Lodz-Lublinek with low visibility. Now LOT can fly to Warsaw 6 times a week without problems like bad weather. The ATR42 will arrive at Lódz at 23:15 and depart the next morning at 5:50. Passengers will have good connections at Warsaw.
