Lungs Under Stress and Trauma meet on the 1st Tuesday of each month at 1:30 in the Coummunity Health Centre at Kings Meadows. LUST also hold Bingo Games on the second Monday each month. Cost $3-00 for a book of 20 games and $1 for supper. Contact:-Clarrie on 6334 0610 or Laurie on 6326 1904. LUST also has several items which can be borrowed by members or hired by others such as a scooter & nebulisers.

The highlights of the last few months were

• The Aus-Mus Lunch on the 8^th of June. Many of the group traveled by bus to Ulverstone. This lunch was greatly enjoyed by all who made the trip and thanks go to LIPS who organized it.
• The Lungnet Seminar held on the 19^th of October. Many of our members attended and enjoyed the seminar.

The group also made several donations:-

• The group made a donation towards a musical trip for Miss Larner who plays the flute. She thoroughly enjoyed the trip and played in a lot of famous places in France Germany and Italy. The group enjoyed the presentation she made to us on her return.
• The group made a donation towards the trip of Patrick Carney who needed to have treatment in Queensland. Patrick Carney is a young boy with lung problems. Subsequently a trust fund was raised as he may have to go overseas for treatment.
• The group made a donation to Lung Net to help with the production of their newsletter.

During the last few months we had several speakers, these were about:-

• Different types of puffers and their use by Jenny Larner from the Asthma Foundation. Jenny highlighted things to be careful about when using puffers and the new types of puffers that are about these days.
• Services available at Kings Meadows Coummunity Health Centre. Cheryl Apted from the centre told us about the many services that are available. If anyone has a need for any service they can ring the centre on 63440555 and if the service is not available at the centre they will direct you to the appropriate organisation.
• Jenny Larner reported on the Air Quality Forum which was supported by about 100 people.

During our meetings concern was raised about the fact that people with lung disorders do not look disabled ( they aren’t in wheelchairs) so people do not realise that they have as much right to disabled services as other disabled people. This concern was raised in letters to the Examiner newspaper.

The group was touched by the kind donation made by the family of Ray Badcock in lieu of flowers at his funeral. Both Ray Badcock and Doreen Turner will be sorely missed by the group.

Some members of L.U.S.T go to schools talking about not smoking because it’s not good for your health,and how Lung disease has affected our lives and how difficult it is to do things when you can’t catch your breath. "Well you find it hard to breathe, you cant dress yourself you have to get help to dress, put on your shoes, bath, even comb your hair, and sometimes help you in the loo, that’s not a good life is it ."
