What is LungNet?
LungNet is a network of lung support groups in Australia. It was started by The Australian Lung Foundation in 1997. There are now about 150 groups. LungNet provides:
- Information on how to start or join a support group
- A quarterly national newsletter with lung health topics
- Education seminars & events
- A point of contact for group members when travelling
- A toll free number (1800 654 301) for LungNet inquiries

Dr ALFIE's top 10 LUNG tips:
- No smoking and avoid environmental tobacco smoke
- Exercise regularly to keep fit & trim
- Avoid sleeping tablets & alcohol at night (both depress breathing)
- Avoid inhaling smoke, fumes, chemicals and dusts at home and work
- Use correct mask protection if you must be exposed to these
- Reduce household allergy triggers eg remove carpets, soft furnishings, indoor pets
- Have a FluVax before each winter if you have a chronic lung disorder or you are over 65.
- See your doctor promptly if you have fever and phlegm or you cough up blood.
- Do not drive if you are drowsy, especially if you have sleep apnea.
- See your doctor if any chest symptoms persist
