"The hills are alive, with the sound of music ....." We can hear her, but can't see her ..... the pitch rises, the lights darken, drums start to thud, Kylie whispers "these hands ... these eyes ... these lips" and a long, fantastic introduction for Come Into My World starts. This really was amazing ... from the silver acrobats hanging from the ceiling, the increasing volume of the song, and the robot Kylie that emerges from the group, i think this is possibly the best start to a Kylie concert yet. Come Into My World is not the best album track, but the live version really is spectacular. Kylie's vocals were fantasic, and the whole arrangement is far more rocky than the weak Euro-pop style used for the album. Shocked is next, and continues with the Robotic-Kylie theme. This song has been completely revamped and is a lot "harder" sounding than even the album version. The rap is monotone, with Kylie even whispering "that's why i gotta tell you" and "i'm shocked" which really adds to the impersonal effect of the whole song. By Love At First Sight, the audience are eager for interaction, and the whole tone lightens up immensely. As the intro bars are played, Kylie erupts into a smile, greats the audience, and bops around as she sings; coming forward on the catwalk during the "it was love it was love it was love it was love" ending. Here she stops and talks to the audience (and to me!) for a good 5 mins. In Birmingham she looked a bit sad i felt, there was not the usual cheeriness that was especially apparent at the last tour, which was a shame. Overall though, this was one of my favourite sections of the show ...
