Tracks performed: Loveboat
The velvet purple curtain slowly parted, to hysterical screeming,
uncovering a second black curtain, with the initials 'KM' emblazoned
in silver. A pause .... the crowd's cheers escalate. Suddenly the
curtain falls to the ground revealing the Loveboat set, girl dancers
in skimpy bikinis, boy dancers dressed as sailors, but no Kylie. The band
starts to play Loveboat .... 2 seconds to Kylie's first line, but still no
Kylie. Then suddenly, a small curtain near the ceiling (previously un-noticed by
the crowd drops, to reveal Kylie in a bath robe, standing on a silver anchor
and suddenly things go mental! Kylie's voice is superb - even more powerful
then I remember from previous concerts. Loveboat is not my favourite of
tracks, but entirely appropriate as the show opener - theatrical (reminded
me of a Pet Shop Boys concert) and pure pop. Start as you mean to go on ....
