A Tear For Mankind

A Tear For Mankind

I'm not sure how well written or anything this is, but it's what I feel I have to say, about the tragic event this September 11th, 2001. To the families and friends of all the victims and the rescue workers, words can hardly start to express the absolute sadness I feel for you all. I am so deeply sorry.

Every day I wonder how close the end is. Just recently I realized how far in over our heads we really are, how little we know, and how much less we take seriously.

Of course, all this is very natural, for this is an enormous thing to start to comprehend. Which saddens me deeply, knowing how many of us don't even want to try. Fear plays too large a role amidst confusion, hatred, sadness and tragic loss. I think the question to ask is, 'What are we really afraid of?'.

The answer is: the unkown. As much faith as one has, there's always fear, and some doubt. I feel there's nothing to really be afraid of, that is, if you are a good person with a good heart.

Everyone makes mistakes, some bigger than others, and it is very unfortunate to see these mistakes lead to the loss of an innocent life or lives. Indeed what happened was no mistake, but rather a well thought out plan by a smart, heartless, and insane being.

For many years people have been fighting battles over land, religion and natural resources. Racism, sexism and prejudice still reigns. The same things are preached repeatedly about love, peace and equality. I don't doubt it impossible, but I think it incredibly difficult to change a stubborn people's mind.

Since they were born, children have been brought up to believe what their parents, family, community and place of worship do. Many customs are different and sometimes completely opposite to those of other religions.

What is very unfortunate is the fact that we started off as one people, one religion, and one belief. Throughout the years, Paganism, the oldest known and longest practiced religion has branched out and broken off and evolved into many very different, often opposing religions, a complete irony.

Life is too large a matter to understand, and people too large a group to all see the same point of view, or at least attempt to. I feel absolutely horrible for those that hate and look down upon others. We aren't just one country, we are one world, each of us with our own lives, some of which are easier than others, but still worth living, none the less. It's hard enough to raise your own family and live your own life, without murders, terrorist attacks and wars to add to the load.

It sickens me to see how people treat one another, knowing somewhere deep down that we are equal, but refusing to admit it, even to themselves. We are one, and if we are to discriminate against anyone, it should be to the individual responsible for the deed, and the people responsible for that individual. Those who defy love, and chose hate. Not someone because of race, sex, or even wealth.

I can't say what will happen once I die, but I do know I will be happy. I may be too young to understand, but I am old enough to try. I refuse to give in to pathetic, childish hatred of someone who isn't just the same as me. Well, you don't have to be, and whatever you may feel for me, I'll still love you like a neighbour.

My heart goes out to all the people in the world who are victims of these ignorant people and crimes against humanity. I'm so sorry it has to be this way.

If people weren't like poor, misguided sheep, maybe we could learn to believe in ourselves, and how great and powerful each and everyone of us really is, how much energy we each posses, and what we could accomplish together if we could focus on good over evil.

I'd rather look at the bigger picture and die for my planet, not just for my country, for I believe the world to all be one people. Maybe one day, in the future, we will all live in peace, until then, I will forever miss the world I never really knew.
