Presentation and discussion (Foundation and Higher)
This takes the form of a theme chosen by the candidate from the list of the 5 Areas of Experience (see detailed list). The candidate should be prepared to speak for about one minute and then be able to respond to questions on the theme.

Role play phrases - Foundation level basic list
These are typical phrases which might be needed in Sections 1 & 2 of the speaking exam. Some might also be needed in section 3 (higher). However, section 3 requires more narrative, particularly using the perfect and imperfect tenses.
No list can ever be complete, but these are essential phrases which should be known by everyone entering GCSE.
