Why? Well actuall it's quite simple, Fushigi Yuugi is my favorite anime and Nuriko is my favorite character from Fushigi Yuugi.
Oh ok, maybe it's not quite that simple.
There are many reasons that I love and admire Nuriko, oodly enough, when I first started watching FY, I was never really attached to Nuriko in anyway, oh no I was all "Give me Hotohori, NOW!" but as the series progressed, I felt myself becoming more and more drawn to him, mostly because of his qualities of being a comic relief, as well as a serious, deep character. Plus he is so gorgeous, I wish I could be that pretty!!! (:::pouts momentarily:::) He is just a character that pulls at my heart in so many ways, the way that he deals with the world around him with a smile and jokes to keep everyone else happy, when inside he has just as many problems. I find this admirable, cause if I'm upset about something, everyone in the tri-state area knows about it

Like every Nuriko fan, I'm sure, episodes 30-33 of the Anime (anou, chapters, iwannasay,... 40-46 of the manga) had some of the biggest effect on me. In Episode 30 when he's in the cave with Miaka and Tamahome and tells them about how he started crossdressing to give his dead sister the life she wouldn't get to have. I admit, it made me a touch emotional, or it could have just been the fact that I'd eaten a chocolate covered cherry earlier in the day, and umm, yeah I'm definatly allergic to cherries. (Therefore, all my reactions to episodes 30-34 are mildly biased on account of an allergic reation) and then of coarse the infamous episode 31, when Nuriko gets mistaken for a girl yet again and decides he's had enough so he cuts off his hair. this part made me want to cry as well because it was Nurikos's beautiful hair, all gone! :::sobs::: But Episode 33 hit me the worst, I mean I was spoiled for most of FY, and like almost everyone, I was spoiled for ep 33, but that didn't make it any less painfull for me. Heck I was starting to tear up at the end of ep 32! and god, every thing that happened, I admit I was totally bawling by the end, and how they played Kaze no Uta instead of the normal ending song, oh gosh, it just made me cry harder, though my real bawling started back when Tasuki started to cry that just pushed me over the edge, cause Tasuki's my second favorite character (and I JUST might be a little bit of a TasNuri shipper...) Ok yeah enough on ep 33, you all had to go through it too I'm sure. Ohh, one last thing, ep 51 when Nuriko reappears, I was like YAY!! It was so cool ^__^.
