Magic of the Last Realms
The Last Realms in eccessence, are different than all other lands.   So charged by prophecy and touched by legend, set as it is to be the final battle ground of all battle grounds, it should be a land with a source of magic that far surpasses all other lands.  Yet it has been changed..........
The Gods of Magic, many as they are, the Gods that grant clerical powers,  many as they are, and the gods that cause the dead to rise, the live to fall, and the very ground to rumble, all stand on opposite sides of this final battle.  As they are jealous of who should be able to use magic and who shouldn't, they fight over the very weave of magic...........
In the midst of their fighting, a war of spells that in itself could have destroyed planes caused a rift.  A rift in magic.  A rift in the fabric that grants the power to cast spells.  As this was unacceptable to all the gods, even those who wanted to withold magic from some, they pushed the rift to the edge of magic's fabric.....
The Last Realms suffered for the gods insolence.  Yet even the gods of magic couldnt have fortold what was to come.  As wizards tried to cast spells, the rift became evident.  It was unrepairable even by the gods.  Then, the immposible happened.  Dranlu the Lich,  sinner against the gods, discovered the secret, a blind spot to the gods because of its very nature.  How could the gods of Magic have seen it?  How is it possible to notice a flaw in your own tapstery when your hand has never before stitched an imperfection.  But Dranlu saw what the gods could not.............
