You know what just pisses me off? Its people whinin' and bitchin' about how
much third edition "sucks" and they "ruined the whole thing." I have NEVER
had a bad experience while playing D&D 3rd edition, but as for others, that
can't be said. I have had the displeasure to play several d20 based RPGs
and not one of them stacked up to 3rd edition. The logic and simplicity of
the d20 system doesn't destroy the complexity of the game itself, it just
makes it easier to express as a random die role. As our society progresses
forward, we attempt to make things smaller, more efficient, and more
productive as well. Such is the progression from 2nd to third edition D&D.
As the complexity of the die system lessens, the possibility of increased
character development, storyline, and overall enjoyment of the game becomes
greater. Just because one person has a huge boner for Kobolds and rolling
dice all day doesn't mean that the system is any worse than the original.
If I were to put in a rule that made a race totally invincible, SOME ranters
would complain about the next release if that were taken away for game
balance. SOME ranters focus only on several aspects of the new system that
they dislike, attempting to bias YOUR viewpoint.are YOU going to let a
jackass propagandizing WANNABE ranter to bias your view of third edition, or
will you enjoy its beauty with the rest of the world? Woe be unto the ill
informed ranter who bashes that which he doesn't comprehend, and is blind to
its radiant glory! All praise third edition and its godly leetness!
