is the second seishi to be found. When Miaka first sees him, she thinks
that he's a girl because of his good looks. Hotohori is very
"fashionable" meaning that he likes to look at himself in the
mirror (but who can blame him). Like many others, Hotohori had a thing
for Miaka (and Nuriko had a thing for him) until he marries Houku and
has a son.
At the age of 14, Hotohori ascends the throne after his father's death
even though he isn't the oldest. Because of this and his rank/ status he
leads a very lonely and isolated life.
