ARTICLE: New Ulm Daily Journal - Mon., Jan. 24, 1955 Sanborn Man Tats for Hobby By VIOLA HENSCH Daily Journal Correspondent SANBORN MINN (Special) -- For 35 Years, Ernest Burginger has followed a hobby which may be a bit unusual for men, but he's developed a proficiency envied by the gals. The hobby? It's "tatting," a job requiring skill and dexterity with the hands. Tatting produces a piece of cloth work not unlike a crocheted item. Tatted items are used as coasters or doilies or are put to a variety of other decorative uses. Not only does his tatting provide many hours of pleasure, it also provides Mrs. Burginger with a good supply of gifts. She uses them often, too. Isn't Simple Tatting isn't a simple proposition.
