Georgia's Heart Doily

Split ring heart

Hi All

The same Georgia Seitz who does the shuttles I posted about has sent me a heart Doily to share with the group. You have been given permission to copy and share the pattern as long as Georgia is credited as the designer. Janet you can add this to the pattern file and include my e-mail address if you wish. Georgia is such a nice lady. The doily is composed of six heart shapes and uses split rings. There is no suggested size thread.

2 shuttles with thread wound in continuous style
R = ring Numbers = ds (3 - 3 - 3 - 3) = 3 ds p, 3ds p, 3ds p, 3ds
- - = picot
Split Rings the first numbers are the normal ds numbers
after the / are the unturned half of the split ring
+ = join
RW reverse work

Begin at the bottom point of the heart.
R 3 -- 3 close ring do not reverse

Split Ring 5 - 5/ 5 - 5 cl ring with shuttle one
Repeat for a total of four split rings

Reverse work. Use shuttle two for inner rings;
shuttle one for chains.

R 10 - 10 cl ring. ( make picot large enough for 3 joins.) rev work
CH 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 2. RW
R 10 + 10. RW
CH 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 2. RW
R 10 + 10. RW
CH 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 3. RW
R 10 + 7 - 3. Do No Reverse Work.
R 3 + 5 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 5 - 3. Do Not Reverse Work.
R 3 + 7 - 10 RW (make picot large enough for 3 joins)
CH 3 + 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 2. RW
R 10 + 10, RW
CH 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 2. RW
R 10 + 10. RW
CH 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 2. RW
R 10 + 10. RW
Repeat pattern for last four split rings joining last ring to first ring. To create the doily join the first 3 split rings to the previous heart's last 3 split rings. Remember when joining on the unturned half of a split ring you MUST make the join using the shuttle thread. Join the last heart to the first heart.

I haven't worked this pattern yet. My fingers have melted together, but I am going to give it a try soon. If you work the pattern and you like it, how about sending Georgia a little note and maybe she will throw other patterns our way.
