Making a Picot (loop)

Adding picots to your rings in different combinations gives you different patterns for your work.

Step 1: Make first half of double-stitch but this time, do not slide it all the way down next to the previous stitch. Stop ½“ to 1“. Press this between your first finger and thumb.

Step 2: Make second half of double-stitch. Slide stitch down to previous stitch and picot (loop) will appear.

Flowers

Making a picot between every double-stitch will make a flower. A good size flower has 7 to 13 picots depending on your thread size. Tie a square knot after closing the ring to be sure the flower holds together.
