The
Governments
The
Federal building was built in the early 1980's to administer the
developments in various aspects in Tawau. Most of the
ministries' departments are found inside the building.

The
Tawau Municipal Council is a part of the government to handle
various developments activities. The council also involves in
town planning, town beautification, local affairs and many more.
Previously a district council, the council was later then
upgraded to a town council as the town's population exceeded
100,000. Now, the town council is aiming Tawau to achieve city
status by year 2005.
