Dog Boy

Dog Boy

Dog Boy

Too Rude Biography
Lets go back into the early 80's when punk rock and reggae had no place on the map. Very few punk bands crossed their sounds with the vibe of reggae. There were some...but not many. Punk was not ready for change...yet.
Dogboy took the task of vocals for a band out of Hermosa called Con 800. This band, just like many other punk bands, changed lineups more times than not. Fletcher Dragge, Doug Carrion, and Dogboy are just a few of the talented artists that graced the band with their presence. It was a good primer for the years to come.

With the aggressive sounds of punk came more fights and more factions of outsiders claiming their grounds as if it were a battlefield. Some punks turned a good thing into a better situation while others turned it into a more fucked up situation.

Dogboy was somewhat disenchanted with the violence of punk rock. What was once a small underground group of kids now started to take shape into gang mentality and violence at shows and clubs.

Dogboy took the fire of punk rock and merged it with a reggae vibe. The Mighty Rhythm Trak was born from the ashes of disgust and frustration with the emerging violence in the punk community. Why not have a killer punk rhythm combined with a laid back reggae beat. One drop style.

War Called Peace was formed to provide Dogboy with a more direct punk rock vehicle to the masses. Their release on Theologian - Yuppie Ghetto - proved to be a hit in the underground scene. Their second CD - Everyday War - was another great piece of work for the South Bay band.

As with many punk bands, change is good for progressive steps into the future. Unfortunately the changes and mindsets of musicians almost always end up in a collision of ideas and goals. As a result, the band disbanded and members went their ways. This was so common with many bands. Break ups and lineup changes.

Dogboy had many irons in the fire. Too Rude was one of those irons. Showing off his talent in the Kottonmouth Kings, Dogboy activated the Too Rude crew and supported KK for a full tour across the nation.

Fast forward to February 2002. Vans Record label (headed by Jim Lindberg ) is on the search for talent. Too Rude was looking for a home...The rest is history.

The band has moved into a new image and signature sound that still has the roots of punk with the hybrid of reggae. Their new CD release "REINVENTION" is by far their finest material. It will be out this Spring/Summer on Vans Records.
