Galaxidi: A beautiful town attracting visitors from Athens and other places all year around. Wonderful neoclassical buildings and stone mansions built by the rich Sea Captains. Tavernas with fresh fist and sandy beaches.
Nafpaktos: Visit the Venetian castle and anchor in the oval medieval harbour.
Zakinthos: The beautiful island of Zakinthos, known as the ‘Flower of the Levant’ by the Venetians who ruled the island for 350 years. Rich with Italian influences, it is known for its therapeutic sulphur springs and picturesque caves on the west coast, which are best, reached by yacht.
Kefalonia: The largest of the Ionian Islands. The island is blessed with numerous areas of natural beauty, such as the beaches of the west coast and the caves on the east coast. On the northern tip of the island, photogenic Fiskardo is one of the most delightful resorts in Greece, and where you will eat fresh lobster.
Ithaca: Kingdom of the legendary Greek hero Odysseus of the Trojan Wars. The island is resonant with ancient folklore and great to explore.
Lefkas: An island linked to the Greek mainland by road, with wooded hills, high cliffs, and more wildlife than any of the other Ionian Islands. There are Byzantine churches and colourful back street to wander through.
Paxos: On the way to Paxos stop at the barely inhabited island of Antipaxos, ideal for a morning’s undisturbed anchorage. Paxos’ capital, the port of Gaios, clusters around a small square facing two tiny offshore islands. On the west coast there are deep blue sea caves to visit.
Corfu: The cosmopolitan island of the Ionian Sea. This island gives you both action and tranquillity. The island owes its sophistication and charm to the meshing of the different civilizations that have occupied it. Abundantly endowed with natural beauty, green and fertile Corfu has numerous sandy beaches as well as historical monuments to attract visitors. |
