If the club investments earn a gain - your share of the investments and 50% of the gain are yours to keep, while the student of your choice gets his/her tuition paid.

If the club investments sustain a loss - you get the benefit of a capital-loss tax deduction, while the student of your choice still gets his/her tuition paid. That's like getting a discount of up to 34% depending on your tax bracket(*).

No matter what the investment results are, the tuition will be paid by the scholarship and your additional benefit will be at least equal to your tax bracket less the 5% administration fee.
