Dolly: If you were stranded in a desert island and could have three possessions, what would you want to have with you?
Tay: This is a very, very, very easy question, because, you'd bring a boat. That would be the first thing to bring, of course it's a yacht. You definitely bring friends, and then of course, a large quantity of food!

May Site of the Month: Hanson in Clay-O-Vision
By far *the * most creative site on the net is Hanson in Clay-O-Vision. It is so well-crafted that it was once featured as a MOE Netpick, chosen by Hanson themselves. This site is filled with tons of witty and clever things to see. There are little clay Hanson figures, all of which are featured in such scenes as a game show, the eClay auction house, concert scrapbook, and even Hanson on Survivor. (Little Clay Taylor is as adorable and precious as can be! I want a Clay Tay of my very own!!!) The time and effort the creators, Daniel and Cynthia, put into this site is tremendous, and we applaud them for it. If you haven't been there, or haven't been there for a while, please go visit Hanson in Clay-O-Vision at http://clayvision.net/hanson/ .
TAY: But, the funny thing is. I think of all the songs "Smile" was probably one that could kind of cross any of the albums. It kind of could've been on the first album or it could've been on This Time Around. It could almost fit on the new one in some ways. It just has sort of, you know, just sort of blurs every line. It's pretty much a straight forward kind of ...
IKE: pop song.
TAY: rockin' song--yeah.
~Radio Disney Interview, March 11, 2001
"I hear your records on the radio
I see you on the late late show
Every girl wants to be your friend
Don't you know you're always on my mind."
~"Let Me Be The One", Mandy Moore
Thank you, Maree, for sending in this song quote!
"There's more reckless abandon on this record," says Taylor. "A sense that we're not gonna over-think things. I wanna leave space for people to hear the parts, the grit of the guitar or the driving rhythms. Not to say it's not gonna be tight and that the songs won't be pop . . . I love writing songs with that hook, that's what I enjoy, like every Big Star song. But I want people to feel it. I want people to instantaneously be drawn in and go, 'I don't know why I like it. I don't care if it's Hanson or Black Sabbath, it's just good.'"
~"Hanson, Sweet Go Underneath", by Greg Heller, for Rollingstone.com, April 12, 2001
It's all too much for me to take The love that's shining all around you Everywhere it's what you make For us to take -- it's all too much
It's too much . . . Aaahhh! It's too much . . . Aaahhh!
With your long blond hair and your eyes of blue . . . With your long blond hair and your eyes of blue . . . You're too much . . . Aaahhh!
We are dead Too much Too much Too much Too much
~"It's All Too Much", The Beatles
Thank you, Pat! :o)
"You want to be able to sell records," Taylor says. "You want to go out and play to a lot of fans. But the natural process of writing songs and feeling good about them has to outweigh that. The character, the heart, the credibility -- those things have to be there first. But I think everybody -- the band, the label -- is looking towards the goal of having that song that makes people go out and buy your record.
"God knows there's a lot of really lame stuff out right now," he continues. "I don't know what's gonna happen but something's gotta happen soon. I don't know if that something includes Hanson or not, but it's gotta happen."
~"Hanson, Sweet Go Underneath", by Greg Heller, for Rollingstone.com, April 12, 2001
"People have so many misconceptions about the band, and we don't care," lead singer Taylor Hanson said Monday from the brothers' family home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. "It's always cool to challenge yourselves. In some ways it liberates you to have people go, 'You suck.'"
~"Hanson Working on Third LP - Whether You Like It or Not", by Brian Hiatt, for MTV.com, April 4, 2001
Taylor ends his call, stands up and offers his hand. I marvel at his height. "I'm 18", he explains. I whip out the Olympus. Snap. Snap. Snap.
~Gina Vivinetto, music critic for the St. Petersburg Times, on meeting Isaac and Taylor at the South by Southwest Music Conference in Austin, Texas
"I'm never gonna be afraid of a really good pop song ? I'm a fan of that great song that just gets in your head," Taylor said, citing the guitar-pop nugget "Runaway Run" from their last album as an example of the sound he's pursuing for the new one.
~"Hanson Working on Third LP - Whether You Like It or Not", by Brian Hiatt, for MTV.com, April 4, 2001
"I used to write your name And put it in a frame And sometimes I think I hear you call Right from my bedroom walls You stay a little while And touch me with your smile And what can I say to make you mine To reach you in time."
~"Prettty Boy", M2M
Thanks for the song quote, Maree!
"I think we're in a really weird place as a band because we are a band, and we always have been, but a lot of people don't realize that," Taylor said. "I want people to hear the name Hanson and think credible, musical, creative music. That's what people should think 'cause that's what it is ? it's just about the music."
~"Hanson Working on Third LP - Whether You Like It or Not", by Brian Hiatt, for MTV.com, April 4, 2001
This is gonna sound a little obsessive This is gonna sound a little bit strange I have one thing to say Before I turn and I walk away This is gonna sound a little impulsive This is gonna sound a little insane I know you don't know me yet But you and I, we will be together someday
Someday Yes you can be with me Yeah I just might be the one Who will treat you like you're special I will always make you come You can be with me Yes I will always let you win
~"Unemployed Boyfriend", Everclear
Thank you, Ariel! :o)
"Yeah, there is this nasty rumour that I cuss all the time, but really I don't, because that is a rule in our house and I wouldn't want to disobey my parents."
~Taylor, Quote from the Hanson Quote Search Engine
Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there! :)
"I'm addicted to you baby... You're a hard habit to break."
~Chicago, from the album "Chicago 16"
Dolly: What do you think you'd be if you weren't musicians?
Tay: It would have to be something creative. Being musical and creative is more than just a career, it's who you are. It would probably be working in film or maybe producing someone else.
~Frisch's Activity Book interview
You are the flame in my heart You light my way in the dark You are the ultimate star You lift me from up above
You make my life complete You make me feel so sweet You make me feel so divine
I belong to you And you You belong to me too You make my life complete You make me feel so sweet
~"I Belong to You", Lenny Kravitz
Dolly: What are some of your hobbies?
Tay: When we do have spare time, we go rock climbing, surfing, roller-blading, sporty things. On the road, we read, go on the Internet, talk to friends, watch movies.

Thanks for the pic, Wakkogurl!
"We write about being sad, about being happy, about being depressed, about life, about passions."
~Taylor, Orlando Sentinel, August 25, 2000
"It`s time and life experiences and different things that are happening and affecting the way you write songs. We`re all better musicians than we were last time. It`s all been an evolution."
~Taylor, Orlando Sentinel, August 25, 2000
Thanks, Krystal! :)
"Note that the keyboarding Hanson (Zach, Ike or Taylor..I have no idea which is which) is, by far, the most likely to be a secret hippy. He plays pretty well, and sang Wang Dang and, especially Goin' Down the Road like he'd done it before. Knew the changes and the words and pretty much seemed to be groovin' on the whole thing."
~seen on a Grateful Dead message board after Hanson played the Wetlands with Bob Weir, February 1999
Thanks for the pic, Cristi!
If I could make a wish I think I'd pass can't think of anything I need....
no cigarettes, no sleep, no light, no sound nothing to eat, no books to read
Sometimes all I need is the air that I breathe and to love you all I need is the air that I breathe just to love you all I need is the air that I breathe.......

Okay....someone sent me this pic recently, and I was going to TRY to save it for a nice cold winter's day...but since I am OBSESSED by this Snowy Tay, I could not wait, and had to send it now!!! LOL
The stage was captivated by Taylor Hanson's performance and capabilities to give the audience a taste of true soul and showmanship ? even when the boys covered Janis Joplin's "Piece of My Heart," Taylor lived up to Joplin's vocal skills.
~Debra Halpern, The Tartan, 10/2/00
When you walked into the room, There was voodoo in the vibes. I was captured by your style, But I could not catch your eyes. Now I stand here helplessly, Hoping you'll get into me I am so into you I can't think of nothing else I am so into you I can't think of nothing else Thinking how it's going to be Whenever you get into me
~"So Into You", Richard Marx
"But even though the 12-year-old Taylor sounds like a mosquito here, his immense talent is already evident. He takes the entire lyric of "Stories" and makes it come from him, not through him, adapting every turn of phrase and every breath to his innate control. His voice may not be deep, but his soul is an ocean."
~Unknown review of 3 Car Garage
"I want to keep the education of people on who Hanson truly is close. I want them to see the real changes as time is going by."
~Taylor, allpop.com, September 2000
When I get home, babe, gonna light your fire All day I've been thinkin' about you, babe You're my one desire
Gonna wrap my arms around you Hold you close to me Oh, babe I wanna taste your lips I wanna fill your fantasy, yeah
I don't what I'd do without you, babe Don't know where I'd be You're not just another lover No, you're everything to me
Ev'rytime I'm with you, baby I can't believe it's true When you're layin' in my arms 'n' you do the things you do
You can see it in my eyes I can feel it in your touch You don't have to say a thing Just let me show how much Love you, need you, yeah
I wanna kiss you all over And over again I wanna kiss you all over Till the night closes in Till the night closes in
Stay with me, lay with me, holding me, loving me, baby Here with me, near with me, feeling you close to me, baby
So show me, show me ev'rything you do 'cause baby no one does it quite like you
Love you, need you, oh, babe
I wanna kiss you all over And over again I wanna kiss you all over Till the night closes in Till the night closes in

Sweet Voice
by Kathy Xu
His soulful sound
Breaks over my heart
Drowning in his voice
My mind is set free
His voice burns
Wildly and intensely deep
Into my soul
Beauty of his soul
Reflects in his singing
Sweet with an edge
The only voice with the power to
Seduce me
Make me swoon to my knees
My heart is his to mold or break
By his sweet singing
Silky sounding words
Textured by his emotion
His melodious harmony
So alive and tender
Touching and romantic
His sweet voice
Deep and pure substance
Exhilarates my heart,
my soul,
my mind
Rose petal effect
Tranquil and smooth
His sweet sweet voice
Sweeps over me
Drowning me in his
Lyrical love ballads . . .
Thanks so much to Kathy for sharing her original poem with us! :)
Q: Are you planning on going to college after your senior year?
Taylor: I have a lot of different plans. In the situation we're in, it's hard to actually be at a campus in college. I'll just have to figure it out when I get there.
~Nick Chat, August 2000
Awww....Our sweet, wonderful Taylor will be finishing up high school very soon if he hasn't already. Congratulations, baby! :)
"You walk up to somebody and say, 'I wanna cover you in barbeque sauce and work you like a rib!' It's kind of like - they're like, I don't *think* so. I think I'm walking out now, thanks, nice to talk to ya..."
~Taylor, on pick up lines, Channel 93.3 radio show, San Diego, CA, 7/6/00
Okay, we don't know about you, but we would *not* be walking out, we'd be racing to get the barbeque sauce. ;o)
It's lunchtime, late March, and 17-year-old Taylor Hanson situates himself between brothers Isaac, 19, and Zac, 14, at a table at Manhattan's trendy-chic Jean Georges restaurant. "Coffee," he tells the waiter. "Black. No sugar."
Yes, the middle brother and singer-keyboardist for the teen rock band Hanson drinks his java like a man.
