Isaac cursed as he pulled over. He got out of the four by four and looked at the back wheel. He saw a nail wedged into the tire.
“Damnit,” He said, looking at his surroundings. There was nothing except an old farmhouse up on the hill. Why had he come to Arkansas all by himself? Because after years of no freedom it was nice to just get out. He was twenty now. He began to walk uphill towards the house. Surely they had a phone he could use to call the triple A. A few minutes later Isaac knocked on the door. A girl with long hair and a black veil opened it. Isaac raised his eyebrows, but decided to ask for a phone anyhow.
“Hey, I got a flat tired there at the end of the hill, could I use your phone?” He asked. The girl motioned for him to come in.
“I doubt you will be able to get a hold of anyone at this time of the night,” She said.
“Yeah, but I want to try.”
“I think it’s going to rain.” As if on cue, rain started to pour outside. Isaac couldn’t remember any clouds, or storm warnings.
“I guess you’re right,” Isaac half-laughed. The girl smiled, almost knowingly.
“Maybe you should stay here for the night?” The girl said.
“Um, that’s really nice of you,” Isaac said, “By the way, what’s your name?”
“Kat.”
“I’m Isaac.”
“This way, Isaac,” Kat said, starting up a narrow flight of stairs. Isaac followed her, placing his hands on the walls. The house was old, and had an eerie feel about it. They passed the second floor and reached a large loft type room. It smelled of candles and other scents. Isaac noted the only light was by candles. He tried to brush off the bad feeling that was creeping up in him. Kat pulled her veil off and placed it over the back of a chair. She motioned for Isaac to sit with her on the small sofa. Isaac sat down hesitatingly.
“So why are you in Arkansas?” She asked.
“Just on a little road trip over to Florida,” Isaac replied.
“Florida. Interesting.”
“Yeah.”
“All by yourself? No brothers?” Isaac sighed. She had known who he was.
“Nope, no brothers.”
“Interesting.”
“So, Kat, do you live here alone?”
“Yes.”
“How old are you?”
“Eighteen.”
“I’m twenty.”
“I know, Isaac.”
“Oh yeah.” Isaac looked at the ground.
“You’re uncomfortable.”
“Well, this is weird.”
“Am I beautiful?” Isaac looked up quickly. He stared into Kat’s massive blue eyes. He couldn’t say she wasn’t beautiful, because she was.
“Yeah.” Kat smiled. She leaned a little bit closer to Isaac.
“You want me, don’t you?” Isaac opened his mouth. Before he good disagree, an incredible wave of desire swept over him. He simply nodded. Kat kissed him, sticking her tongue deep into his mouth. Chills ran through Isaac’s stomach. He began to run his hands up and down Kat’s back. She began to pull at the edge of his shirt. A tiny voice told him to get out, but his body refused to cooperate. Isaac let Kat slip his shirt over his head. They continued to kiss and touch each other. There was a huge lightning crash and Isaac jumped. Kat reached for him again and he drew back. He blinked a couple times.
“I don’t think that I should…” Isaac began.
“I think you should stay,” Kat said huskily. Isaac took a deep breath. He tried to stand up. When he tried, a wave of nausea hit him. He stumbled back down. He heard Kat laugh softly.
“You will stay,” Kat said. Isaac put his head in his hands. Kat began rubbing his shoulders.
“What are you doing to me?” Isaac asked, looking up.
“What do you mean?”
“You are doing something. I know it.”
“I’m not doing a thing you don’t want.”
“I want to leave!”
“No you don’t,” Kat growled. Her eyes had clouded over into a dark gray shade. Isaac’s heart was pounding. What had he gotten himself into?
Kat was walking around the loft, staring at Isaac. He sat on the sofa, nervously twiddling his fingers. What did she want with him?
“You could have just made it easy!” She exclaimed.
“All I wanted to do was fuck you!” She said. A glass bottle sitting on a shelf burst into pieces. Isaac jumped.
“What in the hell are you?” He said, standing up.
“I’m the embodiment of everything evil,” Kat said, smiling evilly. Isaac’s heart seemed to stop. Was he with the devil herself?
“I am whatever I want to be,” Kat said, her eyes turning a deep black. Her voice was deep and raspy. “But why me?”
“Because I chose you.”
“But you could have had someone else.”
“I wanted you! I didn’t want anyone else!” Kat’s voice was loud and Isaac’s head was pounding.
“Are you going to kill me? Sacrifice me or something?” Isaac asked quietly. Kat’s eyes began to clear out. They returned to their shade of pale blue. She took a few deep breaths.
“No.” Isaac had never felt more relieved in his life. Tears came to his eyes. He was sorry he ever came on this damn trip. He began to feel sleepy and closed his eyes.
Isaac awoke to the steady sound of raindrops on the front windshield of his vehicle. He looked around for a moment, wondering where he was. Then he remembered the tire, the house, and Kat. He looked up on the hill. There was nothing there. Isaac looked again. Still nothing there. He got out and looked at the tire. It was fine. Isaac was puzzled. He got back in and started the car. He drove down the road, soon reaching the highway. Looking back again, Isaac noticed a figure with long hair and a veil walking down the road, towards the hill. Isaac turned around quickly. He took a deep breath, and looked in the rear view window. The figure was gone.
