She slipped her tee shirt over her head. Glaring at her reflection, she stuck her tongue out.
“Yeah, this is really going to work! I can’t believe you are doing this!” She told herself. She slipped on and tied her shoes. She grabbed the pass off her dresser and left her bedroom.
He rolled his eyes. This stylist was more annoying than any other one he had met. She fiddled with his long blond hair, and talked under her breath. He sighed, loudly.
“Okay, Taylor, you’re done,” She said in a nasal voice. He gladly arose from his seat. He walked across the room and up to his mother.
“Mom, can I go out back? There’s no one out there,” He said. She looked up, briefly.
“Get one of the guards to go with you.”
“Okay, I will,” He lied. He walked out the door, hoping no one would say anything. He was lucky and no one did. There was a slight breeze and the sun was shining brightly. He hated to be in a building, full of people, under bright lights, on a day like this. He paid no attention to things going on around him. He froze when he felt a hand on his shoulder.
She was ecstatic. She didn’t even have to go in the building. Here he was, unknowingly waiting for her. His beauty had an atmosphere around it. She smiled at him. He was saying something to himself. She reached up and touched him on the shoulder. She felt him tense up.
“Um, who is it?” He asked nervously.
“Just me.”
“Me who?” The fear in his voice was adorable.
“A friend, Taylor.” He turned around to face her. His eyes regarded her cautiously. Her black eyes regarded him right back.
“I don’t recognize you, sorry.”
“You’ve never seen me.”
“Um, then how can you be a friend?”
“I thought you cared about your fans.”
“I do.”
“Then aren’t I your friend?”
“I guess so.”
“You seem so much surer on television, of course they tell you what to say, don’t they? Talk about this, don’t talk about this.”
“I can talk about whatever I want,” He said, defensively.
“No need to get on edge.”
“Well, you don’t know me.”
“I want to.”
“You and a million others.”
“Do I sense an ego?”
“There you go again, presuming.”
“Taylor, do you get tired?” He looked taken back by the change in her tone.
“Tired of what?”
“Tired in general. Tired of traveling, tired of your family, tired of the millions of people, screaming.”
“Yeah, I do.”
“Wouldn’t you love to get away from it all?” There was seduction in her voice.
“Yeah, sometimes, I guess anyway.”
“Aren’t you ever sure of yourself?”
“Yes!” This was growing increasingly frustrating to him.
“Come away with me.”
“What?!”
“I said, come away with me. Leave all this.”
“You’re crazy.” He took a step backward.
“If you don’t you will be sorry. Nothing will happen, except you will wonder everyday what you could have done, and it will drive you insane.”
“Who are you?”
“I’m you’re friend.”
“You said that.”
“Trust me, Taylor.”
“Why would I do that? You’re just some weirdo that I won’t ever see again.”
“That’s…” She was cut off by Walker calling Taylor’s name. He turned around and saw his dad walking toward him quickly.
“Dad, good. Listen, will you talk to this…” He turned around and she was gone. He looked around, but she couldn’t see the girl anywhere.
“Jordan Taylor! I can’t believe you came out here by yourself! You could have been hurt or kidnapped or something!” His father was fuming.
“Sorry, Dad,” He said, still looking for some sign of the girl. Nothing.
“Come on, I don’t want this to happen again.” He followed his father back inside the building.
She was right. This was making him crazy, who was she, what would have happened if he had just disappeared? He certainly wouldn’t be grounded right now, that’s for sure. He looked out the window into the rain. New York, what was so appealing about it? He watched people across the road walking in the rain, covered by umbrellas and newspapers. They all ran around, trying to keep dry. Someone caught his eye, a girl, with nothing to cover with, was walking slowly. She seemed to be enjoying the rain. His breath caught in his throat. It was her, the girl he had talked to. He looked behind him. His father had fallen asleep on the couch, and his mother and siblings were off somewhere. Without thinking, he quickly left the hotel room, shutting the door softly behind him.
The rain ran in rows down her face. People looked at her with a sort of pity in their eyes. She knew they thought something was wrong with her. They had the problem. They weren’t enjoying Mother Nature. She walked slowly, dragging her soaking feet through puddles. The sweet scent of the rain filled her. She heard someone running behind her. She stepped out of the way, for them to pass. But they didn’t, they stopped beside her.
“I want to come with you!” He said, out of breath. She smiled, it was him. The one she thought about constantly. The one she desired.
“You turned me down.” She began to walk away. He followed her.
“I never said no, you left.”
“Your father came.”
“So?”
“So! He would have had me locked up!”
“I guess so. So, can I come now? Where are we going?” She smiled at him.
“You want to come like this? Nothing with you?” He stopped with a look of confusion written on his face.
“You didn’t tell me I would need anything.” His blue eyes were child-like. She slipped her arm through his.
“What made you want to come?”
“I don’t know. I don’t know why I am even doing this. I just feel like, I have to, or something.”
“It’s where you belong. I knew you didn’t belong with them.”
“Where will we go and how are we getting there?”
“Too many questions.”
“But, I’m confused.”
“Of course you are.”
“What’s your name?”
“What’s in a name, Taylor?” He said nothing else. They walked along in the rain, people giving them strange looks. She had what she wanted.
