Course Description
            Graphic Arts is a pre-employment course with training for entry in the graphic arts industry. The course includes basic principles of offset printing, type composition using impact and computerized photo-typesetting processes, computer technology, camera reproduction, letterpress printing, and entrepreneurship. Emphasis is placed on typesetting and clip art manipulation to produce forms. Students will also learn to use various bindery machines as well as how to set up and use the process camera and dark room. Students in the second year will spend second semester job shadowing.
            Students are encouraged to join Skills USA/VICA and participate in additional leadership and professional activities.
Student Qualification
Graphic Arts I
Student must be able to follow both oral and written instructions.
Student must have a desire to learn and a good attitude about work.
Student must be able to work well with instructor and peers.
Graphic Arts II
Student must have successfully completed Graphic Arts I
Student must have recommendation of instructor.
Student must have maturity to follow more rigorous coursework.

Student should have computer skills
Student will learn all safety procedures and
     pass Safety Test with a 100 before continuing with course
Student will maintain a notebook throughout the year
Student will bring supplies to class each day
Student will attend class each day
