Course Description
            Health Science Technology is a two-year program designed to give students medical information and practical experience in a wide range of health of health occupations. Course content includes medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, human growth and development, vital signs, first aid, ethical and legal responsibilities, communication, career preparation, and leadership skills.
            Students in Health Science Technology II are exposed to a more in-depth approach to a specific occupation. In addition, these students will complete the Texas Curriculum for Nurse Aides in Long Term Care Facility and Home Health Care. These students will also test to earn certification as a Nurse's Aide.
            Students in both Health Science Technology I and II classes are expected to become members of HOSA-Health Occupations Students of America, Inc. HOSA is an integral part of the instructional program and provides occupational as well as leadership skills.
Student Qualifications
Health Science Technology I
Student should be dependable, honest, self-motivated, enthusiastic,
     and empathetic.
Student must be willing to comply with the dress code
Student must attend class each day
Student must have good discipline and attendance record
Student should be taking Chemistry I concurrently
Health Science Technology II
Student must have successfully completed Health Science Technology I
Student must have recommendation of the instructor.
Class Requirements

Student will maintain a notebook throughout the year.
Student will become a member of HOSA
Student will participate in mentorship and clinical rotations
