Course Description
                Horticulture is a two-year pre-employment course designed to develop skills in the production, processing, and marketing of horticulture plants used principally for ornamental, recreational, and aesthetic purposes.  The establishment, maintenance, and management of a horticulture enterprise will be a focus.  Students will learn to properly maintain lawns, shrubbery, and other ornamental landscaping plants.  The course will also include landscaping applications, tree service and proper application of fertilizers.  Safe use of equipment and safety procedures is emphasized.  Computer generated landscape design planning software will be used to introduce students to the field of architectural landscape design.  Students will be responsible for Supervised Agricultural Experience Projects (SAEP?s) conducted at the school farm.  FFA (Future Farmers of America) membership is required for students to compete in Leadership and Horticulture contests at the local and state levels.

Student must like to work outdoors.
Student must be able to follow directions
Student must have a desire to learn about plants.
Horticulture I/II
Student must have successfully completed Horticulture I
Student must have recommendation of teacher.
Course Requirements

Student must learn safety rules and pass Safety Test with a 100
Student must wear uniform (provided)
Student must wear appropriate shoes.
Student will maintain notebook all year
Student must be willing and able to job shadow/intern second semester.
