| Course Description | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Horticulture is a two-year pre-employment course designed to develop skills in the production, processing, and marketing of horticulture plants used principally for ornamental, recreational, and aesthetic purposes. The establishment, maintenance, and management of a horticulture enterprise will be a focus. Students will learn to properly maintain lawns, shrubbery, and other ornamental landscaping plants. The course will also include landscaping applications, tree service and proper application of fertilizers. Safe use of equipment and safety procedures is emphasized. Computer generated landscape design planning software will be used to introduce students to the field of architectural landscape design. Students will be responsible for Supervised Agricultural Experience Projects (SAEP?s) conducted at the school farm. FFA (Future Farmers of America) membership is required for students to compete in Leadership and Horticulture contests at the local and state levels. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
