Their Family

In the Beginning: The Van Hoorn Family was from the Netherlands, a place called Hoorn. When arriving in North America, they were called Van Hoorn, through the years the name has been spelled many different ways. Some of these spellings are: Van Horn, Van Horne, Vanhorn, & Vanhorne. This is how one family emigrated to the New World.

FIRST GENERATION

1. Janse Cornelius VAN HOORN [S1], emigrated in 1640. He married Hellegonda JORIS.

They had the following children:

5. Joris VAN HOORN was born in 1645. He married Maria RUTGERS.

8. Aefje VAN HOORN was born in 1654. She married Johan TUDOR. She also married John THEOBALES SR.

THIRD GENERATION

10. Issac VAN HOORN, baptized in 1671/1693. He married Margaret VAN NEST.

11. Jannetje VAN HOORN, baptized in 1664. She married Joseph HEGEMAN. She also married Reyneir VAN SICKELEN.

12. Vroutje VAN HOORN, baptized in 1666. She married Tunis QUICK.

13. Cornelius J VAN HOORN, baptized in 1667. He married Eltie VAN SACTROUT.

14. Gerrett VAN HOORN, baptized in 1671/1737. He married Altje PROVOOST.

15. Aefjie VAN HOORN, baptized in 1673. She married John STUDD.

16. Abraham VAN HOORN was born in 1675. Died in 1741. He married Marie PROVOOST in Sep 1700.

FOURTH GENERATION

18. Mary VAN HOORN was born in 1702. She married William BURNETT in 1721.

19. Catherine VAN HOORN was born in 1704. She married Peter COX in 1738.

20. Cornelius VAN HOORN Capt was born in 1704. Died in 1744. Capt. Cornelius Van Horne, his brother Abraham Van Horne and their sister Helena Van Horne moved from New York to Huntingon County, New Jersey. Where in 1721 he married Catharie Cox. Capt. Cornelius is believed to have been the Capt. of a ship that brought a load of British Empire Loyalist to Canada when they escaped the United States. He married Catharie COX. They had the following children:

34. Abram VAN HOORN was born in 1738. Died in 1810. He married Hannah HUFF. Hannah HUFF, died in 1816.

37. Daniel VAN HOORN was born in 1743. He married Anna PARLEMAN.

38. Mathew VAN HOORN He married Mary CRUM.

40. Margareta VAN HOORN She married Abraham ROELAFFSEN in 1750.

41. Elizabeth VAN HOORN She married Mr COLCHESTER in 1760.

42. Catherine VAN HOORN She married Mr LONGSTREET in 1761.

43. Sophia VAN HOORN was born in Nov 1746. She married Baltus PICKLE.
