Simple things give me pause lately.
I was reading in Philippians, another of Paul's very Charismatic epistles, when I came upon this verse:
Philippians 1:7
7It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart; for whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God's grace with me.
And it struck me.
How did he go about confirming the gospel?
Defending, we do right here with zeal? But how much are we missing, because there is no way to confirm the gospel but to point fingers at the very verses we are arguing with each other over.
That is no confirmation.
No no. The confirmation Paul's talking about, I'm sure, is that confirmation in Acts 4, when they prayed 29"...grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, 30 by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus.”
Now that is confirmation of the gospel indeed. Anything less, makes me wonder what's wrong with me.
I love how this Word ties itself together.
