At the River's Edge
Nothing is a surprise to God. You just have to ask Him. We'll help you make this make sense.
Entry for October 7, 2008 A work of fiction

Once there was a woman. She was very poor and a widow, with one son. The times were harsh and hard, and there was no income for her house. As she sadly watched her stores diminish, and her son weaken before her eyes, she read with hope the story of Elijah, and the widow of Gentile Zarephath. She cried out to God, "Oh God! I am not Gentile, but yours of your son Abraham. I see you sent your servant Elijah outside the nation to save the lives of a poor widow and her son in times of famine.

"See! Famine has hit my house. If you don't send Elijah, we will surely die. Oh, Lord see. Oh, Lord deliver. Oh Lord look down with mercy. Send Elijah to your servant and her son. Lord what do I see? My hope is in the Lord."

Day after day she cried out, but heard nothing. Day after day, she restored her hope. Finally a day came, where there were but two mites left, and Elijah had not come. Determined to give Elijah her last loaf of bread, she stepped out that day to the Temple. Walking up to the box, she saw a group of people standing around a Rabbi who sat near the offering box. As she went up to put her mites in the box, she saw the Rabbi turn to watch her.

She remembered the sound of her two coins as they dropped in the box. And the look in the Rabbi's eyes as He opened His mouth to speak, though she did not hear him, for she was on her way home to die.
The rest is your story. Read it in your heart. What does your faith say happened next?
