Tonya holds an MFA from Ohio University’s Professional Actor Training Program, and a BFA in acting from the University of Wisconsin. She received additional training at Shakespeare and Company, Chicago Shakespeare, Shakespeare Theatre Company, Steppenwolf Theatre, Goodman Theatre, and Second City.

She lived for several years in the Midwest, where she spent two seasons as a company member at Cleveland Signstage, performing in both spoken English and American Sign Language. She also worked for four seasons with the Cleveland Shakespeare Festival as both an actor and a teacher. She is now based in Washington DC and New York.

Credits include experience in LORT, Small Professional Theatre, Theatre for Young Audiences, outdoor, stock, dinner theatre and opera. On-camera credits include independent film, commercials, industrial film, and Public Service Announcements. Other experience includes trade show narration, voiceover, and live industrial. Tonya is a member of Actors' Equity, AFTRA, and the American Guild of Musical Artists.
