An update on Pace High School

Class 2A #7, in the Florida Panhandle...

2A Pace defeated 3A Niceville in Pace on Tuesday evening 2-1. Niceville led 1 to 0 at the half as the Patriots struggled to find consistency in their attack. Sophomore Kevin Lewis provided the only offense in the first half after he banged a shot off the post in the first two minutes of the game.

In the second half the Patriots took control of the game and started passing better. In the sixty-fifth minute, Lewis took a long pass from defender Clint Morrow and made a 12 yard shot past the diving Niceville goalkeeper. Pace then dominated the next 10 minutes of the game and Lewis eventually found an open Josh Kelly in front of the Niceville goal to put the Patriots ahead.

Pace Keeper Jeff Benton made 12 saves and stopped a penalty kick in the second half to preserve the Patriot victory.

Pace is now 14-4-2 with all losses coming to ranked teams (Gulf Breeze, Lake Mary, and MelbourneCC).
