TAMPA Casey Stump scored a career-high five goals to lead Bloomingdale (5-1) to a 6-2 victory over Plant City (2-3) on Friday.
Stump, who was a Class 6A all-state selection as a sweeper last year, was moved forward because of an quadriceps injury to Paul Sanders.
""I hope this means a big boost in confidence for us up front, Stump said. ""We were having a little trouble scoring.
The Bulls took the lead in the ninth minute on Stumps penalty kick after Bobby Anderson was taken down in the box by Plant City keeper Blake Baldwin.
Five minutes later, Stump followed up on the rebound off a wall of Raider defenders to put Bloomingdale up 2-0. The Bulls showed tremendous team speed in running down loose balls in the back and attacking as a team.
The Raiders kept things interesting with a pair of goals by Jose Tamez, but each time he was answered by another spectacular shot by Stump.
""(Stump) can be all-state playing in the back one year, and all-state up front this year, Bloomingdale assistant Ron Woodard said.
In the girls game, the Bulls (4-1) got a pair of goals from Allison Gillman and Samantha Kane en route to a 10-0 mercy rule victory over Plant City (0-5).
