FACA tabs Helmle, Gatlyn, Bauman

Jesuit's Shea Helmle was named Boys Soccer Player of the Year and Bob Bauman was selected Coach of the Year, while Bloomingdale's Chris Gatlyn captured 6A Player of the Year honors in voting by the Florida Athletic Coaches Association.

Bloomingdale and Jesuit each won state championships last month. In the final NSCAA/Umbro High School Soccer national rankings, Bloomingdale was fifth and Jesuit eighth. In the Florida rankings, Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas was No. 1, followed by Bloomingdale and Jesuit.

Helmle was joined on the FACA's 4A all-state team by Jesuit's Chris Simpson, Will Sadlowski, Chris Petroak, Rob Daly, Andy Malone, John Feely and Jeremy Poklemba. Bloomingdale's Matt Lepley and Casey Stump and King's Paul Scrivens also made the 6A all-state team. In 3A, Jody Keating, George Arnaoutakis and John Marshburn were selected to the all-state team.

In girls soccer, Gaither's Katie Fleming made the 6A all-state team, while Tampa Prep's Lindsay Facciolo, plus Berkeley Prep's Lindaliz Arauz and Padgett Crown made the 3A all-state team.
