I have kinda slacked off witht the CIS-to-EFI project during the summer. During the summer I had installed the Megasquirt ECU in the engine bay and hooked up the air temp senser to the stock CIS airbox. I  hooked up the rpm sensor to the coil and the MAP sensor to the CIS airbox. I hooked up the laptop and did some monitoring with the Megatune software. Note none of the fuel injectors were hooked up at this time. The engine was still running on the stock CIS injection system. Megasquirt was just monitoring.

On a very hot day I shut off the engine and went  to work. When it was time to go home I started the car and power up the laptop. I was getting no response from the Megasquirt ECU. It was dead. Exactly what happened is not sure , but it seems like the hot temperatures erased the program in the CPU. I bought some new CPUs and reprogramed them. This happened again during another very hot day.

Other folks on the Megasquirt mailing list also reported some problems with high temperatures. Well at this point I decided the ECU was not going to be in the engine bay, but rather under the passengers seat. Summe past and now Winter is here. The car is stored away in my garage, and so I am getting back to the CIS-toEFI conversion.

I've taken the carpet and passenger seat out. A stainless steel hose clamp is rivetted down to the floor board under the passenger seat.

The Megasquirt ECU is now held in placem with the hose clamp.

A hole must be drilled in the tunnel to the left of the ECU to pass the wiring harness.
