Well, here we go with installment number 2 of ScootAndrews.net commentaries.
I will start with my return to Ring of Honor in Dayton, Ohio on August 9.
It was definitely a pleasure to hear the great fans of ROH cheering "welcome
back, welcome back."
It was great seeing their awesome roster again. The highlight of the whole
night was hanging out with AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, Michael Shane,
and Samoa Joe. These guys are always great to be with, but this time was
even more fun, because I had not seen them for a long time before hand. My
match was pretty decent also. I worked with Shane, Hotstuff Hernandez, and
Slyk Wagner Brown with the always awesome April Hunter. I was very
satisfied with the match. We got a few "Holy Sh_t" chants going and we got
a huge "pop" for the finish. Mission accomplished! By the way, one of the
"Holy Sh_t" chants came on a plancha by the almost 300 pound Hotstuff
Hernandez. Actually I think the 3 of us he landed on started the chant!
I missed the IPW 5th Anniversary Show due to traveling with my family
to Cleveland to see relatives. I heard it was pretty good. I also heard
that my tag-team partner broke the ring in match 5 of the night. I always
told him he was "heavy", but that is ridiculous! :) Sorry I missed this
extravaganza, but family comes first.
Because of missing IPW and them not having a show for a while after the
anniversary show, I ended up with a month off. No problem, because these
old bones really cherish any time off. But on the flipside of that, it
plays havoc on your conditioning. Of course the first show after the break
is a big one. It was for MXPW in Ft. Lauderdale at Broward Community
College's Omni Arena. It was their Florida debut with names like: D-Lo
Brown, Shane Douglas, Glenn Gilberti, Norman Smiley, Gangrel and Luna, Simon
Diamond, Sandman, New Jack, Johnny Swinger, Buff Bagwell, Daniels, Styles,
Chris Sabin, and former WWE announcer Kevin Kelly. I worked with Norman
Smiley and his valet, Lollipop. It was a pretty good match, but not what it
could have been if I had not taken so much time off. I felt like I had 1500
lbs weights on my feet. The next night I was with IPW in St. Pete at the
WrestlePlex. I had a tag-team elimination with my partner Mike Sullivan,
Mikey Tenderfoot, and the IPW phenom- Justice. For some reason my wind did
not bother me this time. I guess I was so "blown up" Friday night that my
lungs figured they were past that point. But, we tore the roof off of the
Plex. It was a tremendous match. Justice and Mikey got thunderous "pops"
from the Plex crowd, who can sometimes be very quiet. I guess Mike and I
did our jobs as heels to get them over. Mr. Daniels was in for this IPW
show, so he got to see my new daughter and my new house, finally. He is
also expecting his first daughter soon, so he got some "hands on" training
with Avery (my daughter). He passed with flying colors and is looking
forward to he and his wife's big day, which will be sometime right before
October. Good luck to him and his wife.
Word association time:
Christopher Daniels-----The man! Every time I see him work, I am more and
more amazed. He is also a very good friend.
Frankie Capone----Take Prozac! The most high strung individual I have ever
met. Cool with me, however!
Lex Lovett----This is definitely one of the up and coming stars in wrestling
today. Making a great name for himself in World Japan right now. Current
IPW champion (at my expense) and recently notched a victory over Mr. Daniels
in an IPW title defense.
Samoa Joe-----What can I say about my Samoan friend? This guy is a walking,
guaranteed good time. I look forward to anytime I get to hang out with this
guy. He is freakin' hilarious. He is also a good friend.
Michael Shane----One the most talented people I have ever worked with. He
has incredible mind for the business. His psychology is incredible! Also a
good friend.
Low-ki and Amazing Red-----Get well soon guys, my prayers are with you!
That's it for now. I will be back soon with commentary #3. Take care and
see you at the matches!!!!!!!
