The Sidearm

This is my reproduction of the sidearm blaster that Boba carries in ESB.  He does not have this in ROTJ. 

I really did not spend as much time on it as I would have liked to had, but DCon was approaching fast, and there are several people there who know what to look for when it comes to Boba...

My reproduction is basically made from spare junk, and lots of time.  The handle is a  spray-paint can handle.  The barrel is some hollow aluminum tubing I had.  The tip of the blaster is some kind of sink plumbing leftover.  The upper portion of the blaster is made from wood, sintra, and Bondo.

The holster was made from some leftover vinyl I had lying around.  The vinyl is glued to cardstock, which helps it hold its shape.  The latching strap and belt loop were made from some scrap leather.  I added a snap to each side and now I have a working holster.

I painted the whole gun black.  I then covered it with red primer.  I used steel wool and rubbed places on the handle, for example, and wore the outer layer of paint off until it started showing the black through.

For what I have in it, it is not a bad prop.  And it is a little more extra detail that I have added to the suit.
